Air traffic is increasing, pushing airline and airport operators to the limits. Thus, the market is looking for a shift to safer, more efficient operations. In line with the airlines’ demand for more efficient operations, new solutions offering higher levels of service to airlines have to be cost effective as well as providing improved functionality.

Our products are based on modern technology using VDL Mode 4 ranging from airborne transponders, ground stations and applications to complete network solutions. We have the capability to support and give our customer the best value for money with safety in focus.

Our Solutions
ADS-B Network
The VDL-4 Network provides extensive functionality for serving airlines with information. After years of work in development programs funded by the European Commission, we are pleased to implement the first commercial North-European network. The advanced ADS-B system will extensively lift service levels for the civil aviation authorities and reduce operational costs for the airlines.
Airport Organiser
In order to maximize safety and improve efficiency in airport operation, CNS Systems’ Airport Organiser based on VDL- 4 has the capability to bring vehicle operation to the highest level of A-SMGCS. At the same time it can be used for logistic control of all the vehicles on the ramp area. This combination is unique, allowing information sharing and operational control to prevent airport delays.
Ground station
The main element of CNS Systems’ solutions is the ground station. Ground stations have been implemented in a number of locations worldwide for various operations including search and rescue (SAR), coastal surveillance, oilrigs and airport operations.
All users benefit from the services provided by the ground station through advanced ADS-B and point-to point features in combination with FIS-B, TIS-B and GNS-B (DGNSS Augmentation). These allow common situational awareness and digital communication between all users.
CNS System offers two types of ground stations that are fully compliant with the VDL Mode 4 standards.
- The VDL 4000/GSI, a high-end ground station with features for airborne and ground applications including ATC/ATM and A-SMGCS.
- VDL 2000/GSI, a cost efficient basic ground station with functionality used for apron activities or surveillance only.
Mobile Units
The enabler for advanced ADS-B and extensive surveillance is within in the transponder functionality. The technology allows common situational awareness in the cockpit and unique opportunities for communication between aircraft, vehicles and control sites.
The products are built and certified for the needs of each application. The air transport unit is compliant with ARINC standards and protocols, whereas the general aviation unit is designed for installation in lighter aircraft.
Technology transfer
CNS Systems’ technical competence is the heart of the company. The advantages of the VDL- 4 technology are well known, and market acceptance is increasing. We successfully transfer our technology to avionic equipment suppliers, with a focus on implementing the VDL-4 technology in a multimode solution and making it part of the future infrastructure for advanced ADS-B.
